Ben & Jerry Sneakers Reselling for Sky-High Prices

The retail price on some sneakers can be high on its own, but for these specific ones by Nike, it was somewhat reasonable at only $100. However, the resale price on the ‘Chunky Dunky’ Nikes is hot enough to melt the ice cream pints in the freezer.

The sneakers’ design was inspired by the iconic Chunky Monkey ice cream from Ben & Jerry’s. Since they were a limited-release, they were quickly sold out after releasing on May 23rd.

Just hours after selling out, a pair of these sneakers were reselling online for $4,000.

About the Sneakers Themselves

Ben & Jerry’s released the sneakers with Nike to celebrate their signature ice cream flavor, Chunky Monkey. The flavor is banana ice cream with chunks of fudge and walnuts. The brand itself has signature colors like Vermont blue skies, green pastures, and black-and-white speckled cows.

The ‘Chunky Dunky’ sneakers are tie dye-lined with an accent of melting Swooshes that are colored yellow, which fits in with the ice cream theme.

Ben & Jerry’s is known for bringing creative and exciting experiences to their fans, and this Nike SB sneaker collaboration is a one-of-a-kind move for the company.

There has been great feedback regarding the collaboration from the skate and sneakerhead community. Ice cream fans are also loving the partnership. Jay Curley, Ben & Jerry’s global head of Integrated Marketing, said that this is an ice cream dream come true for fans.

The shoes hit stores on May 23rd, and after selling out, the resellers started profiting from them. Being limited-edition shoes, they had a lot of hype around them. On May 26th, the shoes re-released on Nike’s SNKRS app and sold out within a few minutes.
