Even if the actual NFL isn’t ready to accept the back-to-pro former 49ers quarterback, ES Sports wants him back in uniform. If you’re a fan of football, the name Colin Kaepernick should have a familiar ring to it. The politically active quarterback has been a free agent since late 2017 after his continuous protest against police brutality and racism left him without a team.
Colin Kaepernick — Civil Rights Above Sports
Colin was part of the San Francisco 49-ers for six seasons. During his final season with them, he knelt during the national anthem at the start of each NFL game to express his protest against racial inequality and police brutality in the United States. Although some of his teammates knelt with him, it was his consistency that attracted all the attention.

His protest attracted mixed responses with things peaking in September 2017 when President Trump encouraged NFL owners to fire players who protest during the national anthem. As a result, Colin Kaepernick became a free agent and even filed a grievance against the NFL. Although they reached a confidential settlement less than two years later, Colin remains unsigned by any professional team in the league.

However, the recent Black Lives Matter movement shed new light on Colin’s protest, so we’re yet to see if that will lead to any changes in the NFL and his career.
His Inclusion in Madden NFL 21
In an official statement by EA Sports, they praised Kaepernick for being “one of the top three agents in football and a starting-caliber quarterback.” The team and the millions of Madden NFL fans wanted him back, so it was time to make it happen.
How it works: Madden NFL 21 players can now select Colin Kaepernick and have him play in any team in a Franchise format. He can also be used when switching to the Play Now mode.
